WELCOME!

SAINT EUPHRASIA ELUVATHINGAL, VIRGIN

St Euphrasia was born Rosa Eluvathingal on October 17, 1877 in Kattoor, Irinjalakuda, Kerala, India. She was the eldest child of the landowner Cherpukaran Antony and his wife Kunjethy. She was baptised on October 25, 1877.

AN APPARITION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

An apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary led her to make a commitment never to marry, giving her entire life to God. As she grew older, Rosa was received as a postulant at the Sisters of the Mother of Carmel, who follow the Rule of the Third Order of the Discalced Carmelites, taking the name Sister Euphrasia of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

HER SOLEMN PROFESSION

She made her solemn profession on May 24, 1900 at St Mary's Convent, Ollur or Chinna Roma. For the first few years, she was Novice Mistress of the congregation, and became Mother Superior afterwards.

SHE ALWAYS REMAINED KIND AND PRAYERFUL

Plagued by illness, especially rheumatism, St Euphrasia always remained kind and prayerful. Very devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, she spent much of her day in the convent chapel before the Blessed Sacrament. She also nourished a great love and devotion for the Virgin Mary.

St Euphrasia died on August 29, 1952 at St Mary's Convent. Her tomb has become a pilgrimage site, and numerous miracles have been reported by the faithful.

HER PRAYERS ARE INVOKED AGAINST CHRONIC PAIN AND AGAINST TUMOURS

St Euphrasia of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Eluvathingal was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI on December 3, 2006 and canonised by Pope Francis on November 23, 2014. St Euphrasia's prayers are invoked against rheumatism and chronic pain, and also against both benign and malignant growths.

PRAYER:

Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Euphrasia may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me; it will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world. THE AUGUST 13 EVENTS On August 13, the children were in jail at Ourem. The civil administrator threatened to boil them in oil if they did not tell the Lady’s secret. Though badly frightened, they could not think of disobeying our Lady. ST VALENTINE, BISHOP OF RHAETIA - 7 JANUARY

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JANUARY Saints celebrated on the 7th of January WELCOME! SAINT VALENTINE, BISHOP OF RHAETIA Saint Valentine (Valentinus) is the patron saint of the diocese of Passau. The Proprium of Passau relates his life story as follows: Saint Valentine came from the seashore and arrived at Batava, today's Passau. Here he wanted to proclaim the gospel to the inhabitants, who were ignorant of the true worship of God, and therefore went to Rome to obtain the necessary authority from the Pope for this undertaking. Upon his return, he invested much time and effort to gain those lost souls for Christ, as the Pope expected him to. Valentine himself thirsted for their salvation, incessantly preaching the Divine word to them. After some considerable time, however, Valentine realised that all the seed he had sown fell on rocky ground. Thus he travelled again to Rome with the request to be sent to another place that had fertile soil. The Pope received him graciously, consecra...
