Eve is the name of the first woman, the wife of Adam, the mother of Cain, Abel, and Seth. The name occurs only five times in the Bible. She was betrothed to a French count named Herman; but since he died unexpectedly before the wedding day, this made such a deep impression on the king's daughter that she decided to live in a consecrated virginity.  From her father she received the necessary funds to build the Horreum monastery (Horreen, Oreen, Ohr) or, according to Tritheim and others, to transform the old royal palace at Trier into a monastery, which was given that name. IN HONOUR OF THE MOTHER OF GOOD She founded a community in honour of the Mother of the Lord for virgins to which followed the Rule of St Benedict. She became abbess.
