ST CHARLES DE FOCAULD - 1 DECEMBER

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER   Saints celebrated on the 1st of December   WELCOME! SAINT CHARLES DE FOCAULD, PRIEST AND MARTYR Saint Charles Eugene de Focauld, born in 1858, originated from a wealthy French family. He became a Trappist monk, living an ascetic life surrounded by the Tuareg in the Sahara Desert. His spirituality focused on the love and care of Christ. He was murdered in 1916 by fanatical muslim bandits. One of his famous prayers is the Abandonment Prayer: “Father, I abandon myself into Your hands. Do with me what You will; whatever You do, I will thank You. I am ready for all, I accept all. Let only Your will be done in me, as in all Your creatures, and I’ll ask nothing else, my Lord. Into Your hands I commend my spirit; I give it to You with all the love of my heart, for I love You, Lord, and so need to give myself, to surrender myself into Your hands with a trust beyond measure, because You are my Father. Amen.”
