CHRISTINA EBNER, ABBESS - 27 DECEMBER

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 27th of December WELCOME! CHRISTINA EBNER, ABBESS Christina Ebner  was born of a patrician family on Good Friday, at Nuremberg, 1277. From her mother she inherited a deeply religious spirit, which early manifested itself in a fondness for prayer and mortification. Hardly had she made her First Communion when her parents acceded to a desire, which she had expressed since her seventh year, of entering the Dominican convent at Engelthal in the vicinity of Nuremberg.  At the end of her year of novitiate she was stricken with a dangerous illness, which reappeared three times annually from her thirteenth to her twenty-third year. Each year, for the remainder of her life, she suffered a relapse of this mysterious sickness.  A MYSTERIOUS SICKNESS Christina did not, however, on this account relax her penitential practices, nor fail in her duties as superior, to which she had been early elected.  In her thirteen...

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 27th of December Prayer to the Angels and the Saints Heavenly Father, in praising Your Angels and Saints we praise Your glory, for by honouring them we honour You, their Creator. Their splendour shows us Your greatness, which infinitely surpasses that of all creation. In Your loving providence, You saw fit to send Your Angels to watch over us. You provide an example for us by their lives on earth, You give us their friendship by our communion with them, You grant us strength and protection through their prayer for the Church, and You spur us on to victory over evil and the prize of eternal glory by this great company of witnesses. Grant that we who aspire to take part in their joy may be filled with the Spirit that blessed their live...

ST ZOSIMUS, POPE - 27 DECEMBER

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 27th of December WELCOME! SAINT ZOSIMUS, POPE ⬅️ Saintly Popes - Index Pope Saint Zosimus' year of birth is unknown; he died December 27, 418. After the death of Pope Innocent I on March 12, 417, Zosimus was elected his successor. According to the "Liber Pontificalis" Zosimus was a Greek and his father's name was Abram. Harnack wished to deduce from this name that the family was of Jewish origin, but the statements of the "Liber Pontificalis" in respect to the families of the popes of this period cannot always be regarded as exact.  HIS PREDECESSOR WAS POPE INNOCENT I. Nothing is known of the life of Zosimus before his elevation to the papal see. His consecration as Bishop of Rome took place on March 18, 417. The festival was attended by Patroclus, Bishop of Arles, who had been raised to that see in place of Bishop Hero, who had been forcibly and unjustly removed by the imperial general Constantine...
