SAINT CAIUS, MARTYR OF NICOMEDIA - 24 FEBRUARY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 24th of February   WELCOME! SAINT CAIUS, MARTYR OF NICOMEDIA Today, we also commemorate Saint Caius (Cajus), a companion of  Saint Lucian , who was martyred at Nicomedia in Bithynia. SAINT CELER AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS - 28 FEBRUARY

(1693) The name Celer  is derived from the Latin celer , meaning the fast one, the nimble one .  Saint Celer (Cerealis), Pupillus (Pupulus), Serapion, Justus, Claudianus (Claudius), Theophilus, Victorinus, Saturninus, Eppolus, Euthecla, Astuta, Mustila, Alexander, Victor, Secundella, Caius and Felix died as martyrs in Alexandria. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Messina, in Sicily, the holy martyrs Ampelus and Caius." The Roman Martyrology states:  "The same day the holy martyrs Dionysius, Faustus, Caius, Peter, Paul, and four others, who suffered much under Decius; and under Valerian, being a long time subjected to torments by the governor Emilianus, merited the palm of martyrdom." PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saints Dionysius, Faustus, Caius, Peter, Paul, and Companions may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Melitine, in Armenia, the holy martyrs Hermogenes, Caius, Expeditus , Aristonicus, Rufus and Galatas, crowned on the same day." PRAYER: Grant to your Church, we beseech you, O Lord, through the intercession of your holy martyrs Hermogenes, Caius, Expeditus, Aristonicus, Rufus and Galatas, not to think high-mindedly, but to grow in humility pleasing to you; that, despising what is base, she may with unbounded love diligently do whatever is right. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Roman Martyrology states:  "In the same city [Zaragoza], the Saints Caius and Crementius, who twice confessed the faith of Christ, and persevering in it, drank of the chalice of martyrdom."   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 4th of March SAINT CAIUS PALATINUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS Saint Caius , with the suffix Palatinus , then Asterius , Uranius ,  Sisinnius , Paul , Philip , Heresilus ,  Basil   (Basilius),   Tepicerus , Gregory  (Gregorius), Euticus , Victurus , Victorinus , Pecculus , Quirinus , Eutocus , Marius, Honoratus , Asclepidianus , Sisinnius ,  Felix ,  Lucius   Gaiosa , Fortunatus , Lucius , Pelvianus, Rusticus, Florian (Florianus), Donatus, Hilarianus, Fortunatus, another Caius, Julius, Pylicus , Anthony (Antonius), Fronimus, Asclepiades, Fortunion, Castrus,  Fortius and a further 16 or 19 Companions died by martyrdom; but whether it was in Rome and in the year 259, as some writers state, is not at all certain. SAINT FEAST DAY 22 APRIL: ST CAIUS, POPE AND MARTYR

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN APRIL Saints celebrated on the 22nd of April WELCOME!   SAINT CAIUS, POPE AND MARTYR ⬅️ Saintly Popes - Index Saint Caius succeeded St Eutychian in the apostolic see, in 283. The church then enjoyed a calm, but was soon afterwards disturbed by a tumultuous persecution for two years, on the death of Carinus.  HE ENCOURAGED THE MARTYRS AND CONFESSORS St Caius encouraged St Sebastian and the other martyrs and confessors. However, to preserve himself for his flock, he withdrew for a time to avoid the fury of the storm. The ancient pontificals say he was of Dalmatia, and related to the emperor Diocletian.  Having sat twelve years, four months, and seven days, he died on the April 21, 296, and was interred on the 22nd, on which day his name is honoured in the Liberian Calendar.
