ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 9th of February WELCOME! BLESSED MARIA THERESIA BONZEL, FOUNDRESS Blessed Maria Theresia was born in September 1830, in Olpe, Germany. She founded the Sisters of St Francis of Perpetual Adoration in 1863. She sought to combine the contemplative and active religious life through an unfailing commitment to perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the works of mercy in the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi . She died in February 1905. AN UNFAILING COMMITMENT TO PERPETUAL ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT The first members of the order to come to the US landed in New York in 1875. They founded hospitals, schools and other institutions, including St Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs. In 1875, Mother Maria Theresia also sent a group of sisters to Lafayette, Indiana, to establish a hospital there. Today the sisters operate 14 hospitals in the US Midwest.
