ST ALBINUS (ANNECY) - 14 FEBRUARY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 14th of February WELCOME! SAINT ALBINUS It is documented that this Saint Albinus is commemorated on February 14. Who he was and when he lived is unknown; but his remains are kept in Annecy with those of Saint  Paulianus . ST CONRAD OF BARI, HERMIT - 14 FEBRUARY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 14th of February WELCOME! SAINT CONRAD OF BARI, HERMIT Bari Conrad (Conradus), the son of Henry and grandson of Welf IV, Duke of Bavaria, began his scientific education in his homeland. Afterwards Conrad went to Cologne, where he was instructed by Bishop Frederick, Margrave of Friuli. Due to his excellent progress in the sciences he was expected to embark on a most magnificent career.  But Conrad was looking for something other than temporal honours and headed for Clairvaux, where Saint Bernard had just started the foundation of this monastery. Conrad then undertook a pilgrimage to Palestine to the holy places and spent the rest of his life with a hermit who instructed him in all spiritual perfection. He died at Bari in Apulia. SAINT PAULIANUS, BISHOP OF VELAY - 14 FEBRUARY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY   Saints celebrated on the 14th of February WELCOME! SAINT PAULIANUS, BISHOP OF VELAY Saint Paulianus, the sixth Bishop of Velay  (Velaunum)  or le Puy en Velay  (Velavum, Podium Vellavorum),  who upheld the Church of Christ in that region at the time of the fiercest storms, lived in the sixth century. The episcopal seat was then still in  Ruessium , which place later took its name,  Saint-Paulien.  His successor, the holy Evodius , moved the bishop's seat to Puy in A.D. 565  (II. 749) . OTHO, PRIEST - 14 FEBRUARY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY   Saints celebrated on the 14th of February WELCOME! OTHO, PRIEST Otho, whom the Bollandists * list among the Praetermissi , was a priest of the Minorite Order, who is buried at the Convent of Halberstadt. He went to his eternal reward in 1234. Wadding * says he was glorified by miracles after his death (II. 741). In Alexandria, Saints Bassus, Anthony (Antonius), Protolicus, and also Cyrion (a priest), Bassianus (a Lector), Agathon (an Exorcist), Moses (Moyses), Denis (Dionysius), Ammonius, Armata, Arbasus, another Denis (a bishop), Paul (Paulus), Leviorus, Orbas (Orbasus), Plebus, another Denis (a priest), and Amantius were martyred in various ways. The names of the first of these are also listed in the Roman Martyrology * on February 14. SAINT EPHEBUS, MARTYR - 14 FEBRUARY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 14th of February SAINT EPHEBUS, MARTYR Saint Ephebus, who had come from Athens to Rome accompanied by Apollonius and Proculus, became a pupil of Croton, whose disabled son had been cured by Saint Valentine . This miracle  was instrumental in Ephebus' and his fellow students' conversion to Christianity. Because of their subsequent zeal in spreading the Christian religion, they suffered martyrdom. This occurred around the year A.D. 272 at Terni. On the above-mentioned day the name of the saint is also inserted in the Roman Martyrology*. SAINT EUPHRASIA OF ALL SAINTS, VIRGIN - 14 FEBRUARY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY   Saints celebrated on the 14th of February SAINT EUPHRASIA OF ALL SAINTS, VIRGIN Saint Euphrasia, a daughter of the Longobard king Aistulph in Italy, entered the monastery "All Saints" with her sister Febronia. It had been built by her father (later it was called St Marinus). There she died a holy and happy death about the year 756. Bucelin * lists both sisters among the saints. In the Supplement *, they are mentioned on April 2. (Buc.) SAINT MANCHAN THE LEPER - 14 FEBRUARY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY   Saints celebrated on the 14th of February SAINT MANCHAN THE LEPER ⬅️ Litany of the Irish Saints Saint Manchan, nicknamed "the leper," (Manchanus leprosus) is listed in several Irish martyrologies. He is also called Mochuocus . According to Colgan *, he was abbot of Mohill (Methal, Molthensis) in the county of Longfort. Kelly * adds, "with his Companions" whose number is given as 150, which perhaps indicates that they suffered martyrdom. The year of his death is unknown. St Manchan is also commemorated on October 21. HONORIUS II., POPE - 14 FEBRUARY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 14th of February WELCOME! HONORIUS II., POPE  ⬅️ Saintly Popes - Index Lamberto Scannabecchi was born of humble parents at Fagnano near Imola at an unknown date. He died at Rome, February 14, 1130.  For a time he was Archdeacon of Bologna. On account of his great learning he was called to Rome by Paschal II, became canon at the Lateran, then Cardinal-Priest of Santa Prassede, and, in 1117, Cardinal-Bishop of Ostia and Velletri. He was one of the cardinals who accompanied Gelasius II into exile.  In 1119 Calistus II [Callixtus II] sent him as legate to Henry V, German Emperor, with powers to come to an understanding concerning the right of investiture.  In October of the same year he was present at the Synod of Reims where the emperor was solemnly excommunicated by Callistus II. He died  A.D.  660.  ORENTIUS - 14 FEBRUARY Orentius was a martyr in the Spanish province of Gallicia under Diocletian. He is mentioned along with others by Georgius Cardosus in the Portuguese Hagiologium. MICHAEL, PENITENT - 14 FEBRUARY Michael, attributed to Magotti, was a devout and earnest penitent lay brother of the Order of St Francis of Assisi who died in great godliness in 1334 at Toulouse. HELINWARD, BISHOP OF MINDEN - 14 FEBRUARY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY   Saints celebrated on the 14th of February HELINWARD, BISHOP OF MINDEN   Helinward, also called Helmward, Helimward, Helmwerd, was the 10th bishop of Minden, Lower Saxony, Germany. and according to the Bollandists is listed among the saints in some martyrologies.  THE CATHEDRAL OF MINDEN In 952 (according to Ebeling in 953) he consecrated the newly built cathedral of Minden with the assistance of bishops Dudo of Paderborn and Drogo of Osnabrück. He died on February 14, 958. Migne calls him "blessed". It is also in listed in Elenchus - this source gives his feast day as December 16. RAYMOND ROLDAN, MARTYR - 14 February

  RAYMOND ROLDAN, MARTYR  Raymundus Roldanus [Raymond Roldan] was one of the group of Franciscans that was murdered by the Huguenots in A.D. 1570 because of the Catholic faith. He is mentioned by the hagiographer Hueber. Raymundus Roldanus is also remembered on August 8 or September 30 in some calendars. The city of Candem [in Aquitaine] where he died, still suffers from the devastation and cruelty of that terrible time.
