He studied in Rome and was a classmate of Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, the future Pope John XXIII. Cardinal Aristide Cavallari ordained him to the priesthood on December 17, 1904 and immediately Father Olinto manifested his vocation to solidarity by founding a popular recreation centre where he welcomed the poorest children and educating them. Around the same time he was assigned to teach in seminaries in the Diocese of Chioggia. There, in addition to theology, he taught philosophy and humanities.
