THE THREE KINGS Three Kings Shrine, Cologne Cathedral The Three kings, the " wise men from the Orient " ( Matthew 2:1 ff. ), have their feast day since the 8th century. Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, patron saints of motorists, are commemorated on the feast of  Epiphany (January 6).  In Hebrew, the kings are called Galgalath, Magalath, and Tharath; in Greek Appelius, Amerius, and Damascus; in Latin Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar (Golden Legend). THE RELICS Their relics are said to have been brought to Constantinople and from there to Milan. SAINT ANDRE BESSETTE, RELIGIOUS On October 17, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI presided at a Mass in St Peter’s Square for the Canonisation of six new saints of the Church. One of these new saints is Saint Andre Bessette, who was born in 1845 in Saint-Gregoire d’Iberville, near Montreal, Canada. He was the eighth of twelve children. His father moved the family to Farnhan in 1849 in the hope of improving the family’s financial situation while working as a carpenter and lumberjack. "I PRAYED TO HER" Sadly, when Andre was nine years old his father was killed by a falling tree. His mother died three years later of tuberculosis, leaving ten children to be cared for. St Andre later said that he “seldom prayed for my mother, but I often prayed to her”.
