SAINT ANGELINUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS OF BRIXEN - 19 APRIL

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN APRIL Saints celebrated on the 19th of April WELCOME! SAINT ANGELINUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS OF BRIXEN On April 19, the Martyrology of Brixen in Tyrol features the following entry:   "In Brixen the day of death (natalis, i.e. the heavenly birthday) of the holy martyrs and spouses Angelinus and Orielda with their sons Paulinus and Gentilis, whose bodies are preserved at the church of Saint Afra (Aphra). They professed Jesus Christ under the Count (sub comite) Aurelianus, and were therefore thrown down from a height, as a result of which they became martyrs." Because an Aurelian was in charge during the first century (during the reign of Trajan's successor Hadrian), it was generally assumed that these martyrs suffered at that time in history. The learned Bollandist Papebroch* , in his Propylæum Antiquarium , with which he prefaces with the second volume of April, suggests that the martyrs suffered at a later date.  In any case, Angelinus is surna
