  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 31st of March WELCOME! SAINT HYPATIUS, BISHOP OF ANCYRA Saint Hypatius (March 31), was a bishop who on this day is listed in a Coptic calendar . The  Bollandists * ( III. 899 ) mention him, however, they are unable to provide more details about this holy prelate. It should also be noted that in the illustrations of the Greek-Russian calendar found in the introduction to Volume 1, Saint Hypatius is depicted as a bishop carrying an image of the Virgin Mary on March 31. The  Bollandists * ( May I. XXI ) conclude from this that he distinguished himself in the Iconoclasm as a defender of the pure doctrine; but on the other hand this type of depiction could also simply express the saint's general veneration of the Blessed Virgin.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JANUARY Saints celebrated on the 19th of January WELCOME! SAINT LUCIAN AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS  S.S. Lucianus et Soc. M.M. Saint Lucian (Lucianus), Paula , Claudius, Hypatius, Paul (Paulus), and Denis (Dionysius) are listed as martyrs in the Greek Menaea*. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Constantinople, the holy martyrs Hypatius, a bishop from Asia, and Andrew, a priest, who for the worship of holy images, under Leo the Isaurian, after having their beards besmirched with pitch and set on fire, and the skin of their heads torn off, were beheaded." SAINT HYPATIUS, BISHOP AND MARTYR Saint Hypatius, bishop and martyr of Gangra in Paphlagonia, is commemorated today. He was stoned to death by the Arians on his return from the Council of Nicea (in 325).  ONE OF THE MOST EXCELLENT FIGHTERS AGAINST THE ARIAN ERRORS He was certainly one of the most excellent fighters against the Arian errors. The Greeks commemorate him on February 14 and 25, as well as June 1;  Elenchus * names Saint Hypatius on November 30. The  Roman Martyrology  lists him on November 14.
