When, finally, her breasts were partially torn from her body by the murderers, she gave up her ghost.  At Tertyllus' command, her body was dragged into a dark cave with a rope around its neck, lest it should have a Christian burial.  The story of her martyrdom is found in the Acts of the martyrs Alphius, Philadelphus and Cyrinus, whose memory is celebrated on May 10. (III. 2. II . 528) Saint Epiphana is also commemorated on July 12.
