SAINT FEAST DAY FOR EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER Saints celebrated on the 22nd of September WELCOME! SAINT FLORENTIUS, PRIEST Saint Florentius, Priest, commemorated on September 22 , was a native of Gaul who placed himself under the guidance of  Saint Martin of Tours , who subsequently ordained him a priest. His sanctity soon attracted followers and disciples, leading to the founding of the monastery of Glonne - named after Saint Florentius - which later enjoyed great flavour from Frankish rulers such as  Charlemagne   and Louis the Pious . Florentius lived in the early fifth century and died in solitude on the aforementioned mountain, where he was also initially laid to rest.  During a time when the monastery was being ravaged, the monks fled with the saint's venerable remains to the former French provin...

His name was latinized Florentius (from the fact of the Irish word Blath meaning a flower), and as a religious, he was most exemplary, finally becoming abbot.  In 824 he joined the community of Columban monks at Iona, and not long afterwards the Danes ravaged the island. One morning, as he was celebrating Mass, the Scandinavian rovers entered the monastic...
