SAINT EULOGIUS, BISHOP Saint Eulogius, commemorated on May 21, was one of those bishops of Egypt who were expelled from their sees by the Arians. This happened during the reign of Constantius II. (337-361), the son of Constantine the Great. After his father's death, following the division of the empire, Constantius had received Thrace, Asia, and Egypt, and sadly was soon won over to the heresy of Arius.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JULY Saints celebrated on the 3rd of July SAINT TRYPHON AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS A page of one of Fortunatus Hueber's Saints' books, "Stammenbuch..." (1693) These saints suffered martyrdom at Alexandria in Egypt: Tryphon, two holy men named Cyrion, Eulogius, Menelaus, Porophoxius, Apricus, Chustus, Julianus, another Tryphon, Orestes , Cyril, Emerion and Julius. The Roman Martyrology * lists the martyrs  on July 3, but does not mention all their names.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 5th of March SAINT EULOGIUS, MARTYR Saint Eulogius was born in Palestine to wealthy but pagan parents. Led to the Christian faith and baptised, he (after the death of his parents) distributed his entire inheritance to the poor and lived on alms for Christ's sake.  Eulogius went about the country converting many to Christianity, but finally was reported to the authorities, thrown into prison, beaten with ox sinews, and at last, steadfast in his confession of the Christian faith, beheaded. The exact year of his death cannot be specified.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH   Saints celebrated on the 11th of March WELCOME! SAINT EULOGIUS OF CORDOBA, PRIEST AND MARTYR  (Saint Eulogius of Cordoba [Cordova] , Priest and Martyr - A.D. 859.) St Eulogius was of a senatorian family of Cordova, at that time the capital of the Moors or Saracens in Spain. Those infidels had till then tolerated the Christian religion among the Goths, exacting only a certain tribute every new moon.  Our saint was educated among the clergy of the church of St Zoilus, a martyr, who suffered at Cordova, with nineteen others, under Diocletian, and is honoured on June 27.  HIS VIRTUE AND LEARNING Here he distinguished himself by his virtue and learning; and being made priest, was placed at the head of the chief ecclesiastical school in Spain, which then flourished at Cordova.  He joined assiduous watching, fasting and prayer, to his studies: and his humility, mildness, and charity gained him the affection and respect of every o...
