ST JULIAN, MISSIONARY - 19 MARCH

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 19th of March WELCOME! Some hagiographers consider Saint Adeltrude to be the daughter of  Saint Bavo . She is also mentioned in connection with Saint Landoald . ST LANDOALD, MISSIONARY - 19 MARCH

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 19th of March WELCOME! SAINT LANDOALD, MISSIONARY  Saint Landoald ( Landoaldus)  (March 19), Archpriest of the Roman Church, is venerated in Wintershofen (Wintershoven,  Wintershovium, Curtis hiernis ) and Ghent ( Gandavum ) in Belgium, along with his holy companions Amantius ,  Adrian ,  Julian ,  Venciana and Adeltrudis . The  Bollandists * published a  vita  of these saints ( March 19 - III. 34-42 ). This work replaced an earlier biography which had got lost and was compiled by Abbot Harigerus at the behest of  Bishop Notker of Liège. Harigerus, writing around the year 980, begins his account by describing how many holy men shone during the time of the Frankish kings (Clothar, Dagobert,  Sigebert , etc.), and that one who stood out in particular among them was Saint Landoald. SAINT LACTAN, ABBOT - 19 MARCH

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 19th of March SAINT LACTAN, ABBOT Saint Lactan (Lactinus) was a 7th century abbot. Born near Cork, it is said that a miraculous spring provided the water for his Baptism, and that, when fifteen years old, he was taken by his Guardian Angel to Saint Comgall, the great Abbot of Ben-Chor.  He was there instructed by Saint Molua in Sacred Science, and appointed by Saint Comgall to make other foundations, over one of which, at a place called Achadh-Ur (now Freshford, County Kilkenny), he presided till his holy death (A.D. 672).  He worked many miracles, raising the dead to life, and in many parts of Ireland is invoked effectually on the part of paralytics and of those possessed by evil spirits. The Albani were a noble Umbrian family. Under Urban VIII the grandfather of the future pope had held for thirteen years the honourable office of Senator of Rome. An uncle, Annibale Albani, was a distinguished scholar and was Prefect of the Vatican Library.  Giovanni Francesco was sent to Rome in his eleventh year to prosecute his studies at the Roman College. His name was originally contained in the process of the English Martyrs, as the fact of his execution for denying the King’s Supremacy was mentioned by the chroniclers of the time and from them was recorded by Sander. IDA, COUNTESS OF SPONHEIM, VIRGIN - 19 MARCH

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 19th of March WELCOME! IDA, COUNTESS OF SPONHEIM, VIRGIN  Ida was a pious countess of Sponheim (Spanheim). who exchanged the world for the monastic solitude in Bingen in 1190.  She was a sister of St Margarita of Sponheim, who is listed by Elenchus and Bucelin on October 29. ST ADRIAN OF MAASTRICHT, MARTYR - 19 MARCH

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 19th of March WELCOME! SAINT ADRIAN OF MAASTRICHT, MARTYR  Saint Adrian of Maastricht lived in the 7th century. A disciple of Saint Landoald , he was murdered by robbers while begging alms for his community near Maastricht (about A.D. 668). Afterwards he was locally venerated as a martyr. ST JOHN OF PINNA, ABBOT - 19 MARCH

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 19th of March WELCOME! SAINT JOHN OF PINNA, ABBOT  Saint John of Pinna was a 6th century saint. A Syrian by birth, but an Italian by domicile, he settled at Pinna in the Abruzzi, where he built a monastery which he governed as Abbot for forty years. He lived in the sixth century and was famous for many supernatural gifts and graces.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 19th of March WELCOME! BLESSED MARCEL CALLO, MARTYR   His memorial is April 19 in Austria. Marcel Callo was born in Rennes, France, on December 6, , 1921 as the second of nine children to Marcel Callo and Felicita Maria Giuseppina; one brother was Giovanni (who became a priest). He began working on October 1 , 1934 in a printing shop in Rennes. Bl. Marcel did not like to associate himself with fellow workers who swore or who told improper stories and aligned himself with fellow Christians instead. HE JOINED THE YOUNG CHRISTIAN WORKERS He joined the Young Christian Workers (also known as the Jocists in 1935 that Joseph Leo Cardijn had established). His mother asked her him if he had an inclination to become a priest like his brother but he responded: "I do not feel called to the priesthood; I think I do more good by remaining in the world". BLESSED SYBILLINA OF BISCOSSIS, VIRGIN   Blessed Sybillina of Biscossis became blind at the age of ten, and for a long time she asked for her sight to be restored through the intercession of St Dominic, not being able to resign herself never again to see the light of Heaven.  THE CONTEMPLATION OF THE MYSTERIES OF HEAVEN At last she understood from God that He had sent this blindness in order that she might be more free for the contemplation of the mysteries of our Redemption, and then she accepted it gladly.  SPIRITUAL WISDOM Received first among the Tertiary Sisters, she afterwards passed sixty-four years apart from all intercourse with the world, in a little cell close to the church of the Friars Preachers.
