ST JOSEPH ZHANG DAPENG, MARTYR - 12 MARCH

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 12th of March WELCOME! SAINT JOSEPH ZHANG DAPENG, MARTYR Zhang Dapeng was born as a Buddhist in Duyun, Guizhou Province, in the year 1754. It was through Mr Wang’s son that he first heard the good news of Christ’s salvation. Zhang Dapeng repented of his sins and put his faith in Jesus Christ. This is also the view of the Bollandist  Cuperus*, stated in his article about this holy pontiff (July VI. 549).  The bishops Innocent and Rasus probably came to Rome at the time of persecution and died or were killed there, or their bodies were brought there after their death to be buried in ...

At one point, he crossed over to Armorica or Lesser Britain as a priest. There he settled on the small island of Medonia, inhabited by the Osismians, a still idolatrous people, and lived a truly angelic life, hidden from human eyes. Bread and water were his usual sustenance; only on the great feast days he allowed himself fish. Moved by the deplorable blindness of the Osismians, he preached the faith to them. His evangelical work had the happiest of successes. Withur, who was earl or governor of the region, wrote of this to ...

ST PETER, MARTYR - 12 MARCH

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 12th of March WELCOME! SAINT PETER, MARTYR  Today, we also commemorate Saint Peter, martyr. The Roman Martyrology states: "At Nicomedia, the passion of the blessed martyr Peter, chamberlain of the emperor Diocletian. For complaining openly of the atrocious torments inflicted on the martyrs, he was, by order of the emperor, first suspended and a long time scourged, then, salt and vinegar being rubbed into his wounds, he was burned on a grate over a slow fire. Thus did he become truly the heir of Saint Peter’s name and faith." PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that we who know how courageously your holy martyr Peter confessed the faith, may experience his goodness as he intercedes for us with you. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen. ➡️ More information about Saint Peter, Martyr -∆-

Though poor herself, she did all she could in charity to the poor, depriving herself of some of her meal daily to feed a starving man.  HER ILLNESS During a most tedious and protracted illness she showed wonderful patience, during which she once saw the devil in the form of a huge serpent. She drove him away by the Sign of the Cross. [In those days the bedridden used to be nursed on a wooden board, due to the problems associated with the amount of labour-intensive laundry caused by a person being completely bedbound. St Lidwina , too, was nursed on a board.] Fina could no longer get up from the hard board on which she was lying, she was plagued by pressure sores, her rotting...
