ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JULY Saints celebrated on the 15th of July WELCOME! HARUTH, BISHOP OF VERDEN [Haruth] (Harruchus, Harrucus), a Scotsman, initially abbot of Amorbach, later became eighth bishop of Verden (Verda, Verdia, Verdena) on the Aller (in the kingdom of Hanover). The successor of bishop Isenger , this man "full of all virtues" died around the year 831. According to Zedler* (XLVII . 326 ), Abbot Patto of Amorbach held the episcopal position in the past, but Abbot Haruth received the real dignity of a bishop in 803. Many hagiographers, including Bucelin * among others, number him among the "saints," while Mabillon * and the Bollandists * could find no grounds for such an attribute.
