  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY   Saints celebrated on the 15th of February WELCOME! SAINT MATTHEW AYARIGA, MARTYR Saint Matthew Ayariga (left) Saint Matthew Ayariga is one of only 21 people officially recognized as 21st-century martyrs by both the Coptic Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church. But he has a further distinction: He is the only one among this group who was not a Coptic Orthodox Christian .  Originally from Ghana, Matthew was working in Libya when he found himself abducted by the Islamic terror organisation ISIS along with twenty of his coworkers, who were  Coptic Orthodox Christians  from various villages in Egypt. The 21 captives were led to the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in order for their kidnappers to film an Islamic indoctrination video. This repulsive propaganda film denounced them as followers of the Cross. They were told that if they publicly renounced the Christian faith and converted to Islam they would live. SAINT MATTHEW, APOSTLE AND EVANGELIST  ➡️ The translation of Saint Matthew Matthew was a tax gatherer, born at Capernaum, called by Jesus, for whom he left everything and turned to a new life. His Gospel was written in Hebrew. Tradition tells that he preached in the East. PRAYER: God of mercy, you chose a tax collector, Saint Matthew, to share the dignity of the apostles. By his example and prayers help us to follow Christ and remain faithful in your service. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen. (Saint Matthew is the patron saint of bookkeepers and accountants.) 

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 27th of March WELCOME! SAINT MATTHEW OF BEAUVAIS, KNIGHT A nobleman of Beauvais, France, Saint Matthew took the cross from Bishop Roger of Beauvais and set off as a member of the First Crusade which had been called by  Pope Urban II to free the Holy Land.  A MEMBER OF THE FIRST CRUSADE While on the crusade, he was captured by the  Saracens in 1098, imprisoned, and was offered freedom on the condition that he renounce the Catholic Faith and become a Mahometan. When he steadfastly refused, he was beheaded. PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that we who know how courageously your holy martyr Matthew confessed the faith, may experience his goodness as he intercedes for us with you. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
