  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH   Saints celebrated on the 9th of March SAINT SEDNA, ABBOT ⬅️ Litany of the Irish Saints Saint Sedna (Setna), of Druim (Droma), a son of Blan, also called Setna and Sedulius, is mentioned in the Mart. Taml .* and is listed by Colgan * among the Saints of Ireland. He was (according to Kelly*, p. 90 ) abbot of the above-mentioned monastery (which is situated on the borders of Meath and Ulster) and a  contemporary of   St Patrick   (Patritius) . HELIAS - 9 MARCH Helias was a nephew and disciple of the Basilian abbot St Vitalis, who is venerated in Armento and Rapolla in the Neapolitan province of Basilicata. In the life story of St Vitalis it says that Helias was sent from Sicily to his holy uncle Vitalis came and helped him when he died in 994. There Helias is described as a "cautious and modest man, who was not inferior to his teacher in holiness and good works". Saint Bruno of Querfurt was the second Apostle of the Prussians and martyr. He was born about 970; he died February 14, 1009. He is generally represented with a hand cut off. HIS FAMILY Bruno was a member of the noble family of Querfurt and is commonly said to have been a relative of the Emperor Otto III, although Hefele emphatically denies this.  When hardly six years old he was sent to Archbishop  Adalbert of Magdeburg to be educated and had the learned Geddo as his teacher in the cathedral school. The Roman Martyrology states: "At Sebaste, in Armenia, under the governor Agricolaus, in the time of the emperor Licinius, the birthday of forty holy soldiers of Cappadocia.  "After being loaded with chains and confined in foul dungeons, after having their faces bruised with stones, and being condemned to spend the night naked, during the coldest part of winter, on a frozen lake, where their bodies were benumbed and laid open by the frost, they ended their martyrdom by having their limbs crushed. St Catherine of Bologna was born of noble parentage at Bologna, in 1413.  Early ardent sentiments of piety seemed to have prevented in her the use of reason. At twelve years of age she was placed in quality of a young maid of honour in the family of the princess Margaret, daughter to Nicholas of Est, marquis of Ferrara. He was illustrious by birth, and had been engaged in marriage in the world. His son Dexter was raised to the first dignities in the empire, being high chamberlain to the emperor Theodosius and præfectus-prætorio under Honorius.  AFTER SOME TIME IN THE WORLD, HE RENOUNCED IT St Pacian having renounced the world, was made bishop in 373. St Jerome, who dedicated to him his Catalogue of illustrious men, extols his eloquence and learning, and more particularly the chastity and sanctity of his life. SAINT GREGORY OF NYSSA, BISHOP AND CONFESSOR [Also celebrated on January 10.] Saint Gregory of Nyssa was younger brother to St Basil the Great; and was educated in polite and sacred studies. HE RENOUNCED THE WORLD He afterwards renounced the world, and was ordained lector; but was overcome by his violent passion for eloquence to teach rhetoric. St Gregory Nazianzen wrote to him in the strongest terms, exhorting him to renounce that paltry or ignoble glory, as he elegantly calls it.  BISHOP OF NYSSA This letter produced its desired effect.
