(1693) Saint Hunfrid (Hunfridus, Hunfredus, Huntfridus, Huntfredus, Humfridus, Humifridus Honfridus) was the successor of Saint Folcuinus and according to Zedler* (XLII. 1065) the 17th bishop of Terouenne (Thérouanne) (Tarvenna). He came to Flanders (Morinum, Belgica secunda)  as a bishop in A.D. 356 - i.e. at a time that was assessed by the second council of Toul as follows:  "all divine and human laws are despised, all monastic and ecclesiastical discipline is in confusion, and curses and lies, adultery and murder have gotten the upper hand." This council, which was held around the year 360 at the royal castle Tusey (Tusiacum), was co-signed by our bishop Hunfrid.
