BL. BERNARDINUS FELTRIENSIS - 28 SEPTEMBER

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER Saints celebrated on the 28th of September WELCOME! BL. BERNARDINUS FELTRIENSIS  Blessed Bernardinus Feltriensis, (September 28) - also called "the little one" (Parvulus, Parvulinus) because of his small stature - was born in 1439 to noble parents in the city of Feltre (Feltria), which was part of the Republic of Venice. This is the reason for the surname Feltriensis, to distinguish him from St Bernardine of Siena.  He had five brothers and four sisters, and in holy Baptism received the name Martin. Given the success of his studies, he seemed destined for an honourable position in the world. But then a sermon by St Jacobus from Piceno, which Bernardinus happened to listen to in Padua where he studied law, tore him completely from the world and made him decide to join the Order of St Francis.  His example drew one of his brothers and three of his sisters to the same way of life.
