ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 16th February SAINT ELIAS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS Saint Elias, Jeremiah, Isaiah , Samuel, and Daniel were Christians who had taken these their names at their baptism. They ministered to their fellow believers in Cilicia, who were condemned to work in mines. After some time they returned to Caesarea in Palestine, where they brought several idolaters to the Lord Jesus Christ, but were reported to the authorities and seized by the governor Firmilian, cruelly tormented and finally, when neither promises nor threats could shake their Christian faith, they were beheaded. Their martyrdom took place in A.D. 308, during the reign of Emperor Galerius Maximian. Thereupon Porphyry, a Christian servant of Saint Pamphilus, boldly approached the governor and asked for the corpses of the holy martyrs.
