VII, 378) among those omitted from their main entries; they note that he died on September 27, 1331. Yet he is indeed venerated as Blessed, at least within the Augustinian Order. He was born in Verona in 1242. The names of his parents are unknown, but they provided for his upbringing and education so thoroughly that one might have wondered whether his piety or his learning was the greater. The promising young man sought and found admission and a role among the Augustinian Hermits at the Church of St Euphemia. He preached what he had acquired in his solitary cell - through fervent prayer and rigorous penance - with such captivating eloquence that he was called to the episcopal office. SAINT PATROCLUS, RECLUSE Saint Patroclus (French: Parre ), recluse in Berry  (Ducatus Bituricensis ), came from a well-to-do family there and in his youth tended his father's flock.  Later he devoted himself to his studies and was admitted to the house of a noble at the court of Childebert in Paris. Meanwhile his mother had become a widow and called her son home. Soon after, however, he had himself tonsured by Bishop Arcadius of Bourges.  At first Saint Patroclus lived in fellowship with other clergymen, and evidently inclined to devote himself to pastoral care, as he also received the other ordinations, including the diaconate, but later retired to the village of Neris, where he built a house of prayer in honour of Saint Martin and, in addition to strict penitential works, occupied himself with teaching the children of the neighbourhood.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER Saints celebrated on the 19th of November WELCOME! WILLIAM OF SIGNY, MONK William (Guilielmus) was a 12th century Benedictine abbot at the monastery Mont d'Or or St Thierry (S. Theodarici in Monte aureo) near Reims.  While Bernard , with whom he was good friends, was still alive, William renounced his abbey and became a Cistercian at Signy in France. The Cistercians include him in their list of saints. Apart from a Life of St Bernard he also wrote a commentary on St Paul's Letter to the Romans and another on the Song of Songs from the Bible, as well as several treatises. According to Lechner*, he died in 1160.  He is also commemorated on January 12. BLESSED ELISABETH VAN SPAELBEEK, VIRGIN Blessed Elisabeth van Spaelbeeck ( Spalbecana ), a nun at Herkenrod Abbey in Belgium, seems to have completed her godly life in the second half of the 13th century. The people of that region celebrate her memory on November 19. She is also commemorated on October 19. SAINT THEODOMIR OF MICY, ABBOT Saint Theodomir (Theodomirus, Theodemirus) was a Benedictine abbot of Micy [Abbey of Saint-Mesmin] (Miciacum) . He lived at this monastery for 55 years and edified his confreres by his holy life. He passed to his eternal reward in A.D. 585.  (Guerin.)   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER Saints celebrated on the 19th of November WELCOME! SAINT AZA AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS   In the early fourth century, Saint Aza (Axas) and his 150 fellow soldiers were killed for their Christian faith. This happened under Emperor Diocletian at the orders of the war tribune Aquilinus in Isauria. According to the hagiographer Migne * their martyrdom took place in A.D. 304. The  Roman Martyrology * mentions them on this day as well. He was by birth a barbarian, a native of Thrace, and of a gigantic stature: for his cruelty towards all men he is surnamed Busiris, Typhon, and Phalaris, and was a monster of gluttony.  THE HARDSHIPS OF HIS EXILE Saint Pontian was banished by him in the beginning of his reign into the isle of Sardinia, where he died the same year, if not by the sword, at least by the hardships of his exile and the unhealthfulness of the air....

This name is the Greek form of the Hebrew Obhadhyah , which means " the servant [or worshipper] of Yahweh ".  "THE SERVANT OF YAHWEH" The fourth and shortest of the minor prophetical books of the Old Testament (it contains only twenty-one verses) is ascribed to Abdias. In the title of the book it is usually regarded as a proper name.
