SAINT ANASTASIUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS - 11 MAY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 11th of May SAINT ANASTASIUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS Saint Anastasius, called Cornicularius (which under the emperors meant a civil servant, assistant) was married to Theopista, by whom he had four sons (Saints Esodes, Aradius, Calistus, and Felix) and two daughters (Saints Euphemia and Primitiva). Devoted pagans all their lives, they were eventually sanctified together with three servants (tres ex familia) by Saint Porphyry.  The holy man instructed them in the faith, baptised them and encouraged them to martyrdom, which they also endured under Emperor Decius. Before it was their turn to be rewarded with the martyr's crown, they had witnessed the heroic death of Saint Porphyry, Saint Venantius and other saints at the hands of the pagans and had seen for themselves the miracles which God wrought. Because of these saints' testimony, Anastasius and his Companions remained deeply inspired and strong in the faith unto death...

SAINT CALLISTUS, BISHOP AND MARTYR - 14 AUGUST

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST Saints celebrated on the 14th of August SAINT CALLISTUS, BISHOP AND MARTYR Today, we also commemorate Saint Callistus. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Todi, Saint Callistus, bishop and martyr." PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Callistus may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SAINT EVODIUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS - 25 APRIL

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN APRIL Saints celebrated on the 25th of April SAINT EVODIUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS Today, we also commemorate Saint Evodius and Companions. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Syracuse, the holy martyrs Evodius, Hermogenes, and Callistus." PRAYER: Grant to your Church, we beseech you, O Lord, through the intercession of your holy martyrs Evodius, Hermogenes, and Callistus, not to think high-mindedly, but to grow in humility pleasing to you; that, despising what is base, she may with unbounded love diligently do whatever is right. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Corinth, the birthday of the holy martyrs Callistus and Charisius, with seven others, who were cast into the sea." PRAYER: Grant to your Church, we beseech you, O Lord, through the intercession of your holy martyrs Callistus and Charisius, not to think high-mindedly, but to grow in humility pleasing to you; that, despising what is base, she may with unbounded love diligently do whatever is right.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 29th of December Prayer to the Angels and the Saints Heavenly Father, in praising Your Angels and Saints we praise Your glory, for by honouring them we honour You, their Creator. Their splendour shows us Your greatness, which infinitely surpasses that of all creation. In Your loving providence, You saw fit to send Your Angels to watch over us. Grant that we may always be under their protection and one day enjoy their company in heaven. Heavenly Father, You are glorified in Your Saints, for their glory is the crowning of Your gifts. You provide an example for us by their lives on earth, You give us their friendship by our communion with them, You grant us strength and protection through their prayer for the Church, and You spur us on to victory over evil and the prize of eternal glory by this great company of witnesses. SAINT FEAST DAY 14 OCTOBER: ST CALLISTUS I., POPE AND MARTYR

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 14th of October WELCOME! SAINT CALLISTUS I., POPE AND MARTYR ⬅️ Saintly Popes - Index Saint Callistus, a Roman, ruled the Church when Antoninus Heliogabulus was emperor. He instituted the four periods of the year which are known as Ember Days – days on which, in accordance with the apostolic tradition, fasting was to be observed by all. He built the basilica called St Mary across-the-Tiber and enlarged the ancient cemetery on the Appian Way, in which are buried many holy Priests and martyrs. For this reason, it is called the cemetery of Callistus. He reigned five years, one month and twelve days. HE WAS CROWNED WITH MARTYRDOM After a long imprisonment, during which he was starved and frequently scourged, he was thrown head-downward into a well. He was crowned with martyrdom under the Emperor Alexander and was buried in the cemetery of Calepodius on the Aurelian Way, at the third mile-stone from the City, on the day before the Id...
