  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 25th of June WELCOME! SAINT PROSPER, BISHOP OF REGGIO Encyclopedia of Saints   Saint Prosper, Bishop, is commemorated on June 25 . This holy Bishop of Reggio ( Rhegium Lepidi ) - in the former Duchy of Modena - lived in the 5th century and was buried in the Church of  Saint Apollinaris  outside the city. In the year 698,  his mortal remains were transferred into a dedicated church erected in his honour. Later, a  Benedictine   monastery named after  Saint Peter  was attached to this church. Another church in honour of Saint Prosper was also built within the city, not far from the cathedral. He is a patron saint of Reggio and must not be confused with the holy Doctor of the Church, Prosper . BLESSED JOHN THE SPANIARD, RELIGIOUS John the Spaniard (Johannes Hispanus) , commemorated on June 25, was a Carthusian prior in Savoy. Born of commoner parents in Spain, in a place called Almanceps , which according to the Bollandists * was probably in Navarre or some other county near France, he crossed over into France at the age of 13. With a companion in tow, he originally sought to gain scientific training. After staying for a while in Arles (Arelate) , he then lived for several years under the care of a hermit. Eventually John entered the Carthusian Order in a place called Monsrivius (the Bollandists * do not provide any more details about this location), where he served as sacristan in the monastery for some time. Later, he came to Chartreuse (Cartusia) to  Saint Anthelm  (Anthelmus), and from there he was sent by his superiors, along with several others, to settle in the province ...

SAINTS AMANDUS AND DOMNOLENUS, HERMITS Saints Amandus and Domnolenus, commemorated on June 25, lived as hermits at Gemelay (Gimeliacum) in Périgord (Petragoricum). They flourished in the 6th century and are venerated at Limoges (Limovicum) , where Saint Domnolenus is buried. SAINT LUCY AND 22 COMPANIONS, MARTYRS OF ROME Saint Lucy (Luceja, Lucia) was a pious Roman citizen (civis urbica) from the eternal city (Urbicaria) . Taken into captivity by the barbarian king Auceias, he fell in love with her because of her beauty. But when she explained to him that she was already betrothed to Jesus Christ, the king was filled with awe towards her. He had a suitable dwelling allotted to her, and commanded maids to tend to her, giving them the strictest orders, in all things to give punctual obedience to this virgin, who worships the God who dwells in heaven.  Lucy, praying and fasting, thanked God day and night for this great grace.
