PAUL AND FERTIN, FRANCISCANS AND MARTYRS The Seraphic Martyrology * details that Paul (Paulus) and Fertin (Fertinus) of the Order of Saint Francis of Assisi were attacked by heretics near Chateauvilain (Castrum villanum) in A.D. 1565. After subjecting these holy monks to various tortures, the heretics strangled them. The Bollandists *, as well as Hueber *, also list them on March 5 (I. 359) .
