SAINTS JULIAN AND EUBULUS, MARTYRS Julian (Julianus), a physician, and Eubulus were imprisoned for the faith under the apostate emperor Julian, underwent much torment for remaining steadfast Christians, and were finally beheaded. Their spiritual teacher had been Arcadius of Cyprus , who, after the loss of his pupils, continued his pious life with tears and prayers . SAINT EUBULUS, CONFESSOR The name Eubulus is derived from the Greek; it means one who advises correctly, a good adviser. This Saint Eubulus was a devout Christian and a disciple of the apostle Paul, with whom he stayed in Rome during his second captivity. He is mentioned in Saint Paul's second letter to Timothy (2 Timothy 4:21): "Make every effort to come before the winter. Greetings to you from Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, Claudia and all the brothers." Their splendour shows us Your greatness, which infinitely surpasses that of all creation. In Your loving providence, You saw fit to send Your Angels to watch over us. Grant that we may always be under their protection and one day enjoy their company in heaven. Heavenly Father, You are glorified in Your Saints, for their glory is the crowning of Your gifts.
