ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 24th of December WELCOME! BLESSED ELIAS HOYEK, PATRIARCH Blessed Elias Hoyek Born on December 4, 1843 in Helta (Batroun), a tiny village in a remote corner of the Ottoman Empire, Elias Hoyek (Patriarch Elias Hoayek, Elias Peter Hoayek, Elyas Butros al-Hwayek) defended the idea of creating a Greater Lebanon, two months after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles (June 28, 1919), which placed part of the Middle East under French mandate. Lebanon was a true jewel; its human and spiritual vocation was no less precious: it was to serve as a treasure-chest for peaceful coexistence, enabling 'the wolf and the lamb' to dwell together ( as the prophet Isaiah wrote ), a messianic biblical ideal that Lebanon would seek to embody and of which  Pope John Paul II  would later say that it is 'a model of freedom and pluralism for the East and the West' - a model that continues to elevate the country to this day despite all th...

ST ADAM, HUSBAND OF EVE - 24 DECEMBER

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 24th of December 🌲 Christmas 🌲 WELCOME! SAINT ADAM, FATHER OF THE HUMAN RACE [Saint Adam.] Adam was the first man and the father of the human race.  In Genesis 2:7, the name seems to be connected with the word ha-adamah "the ground", in which case the value of the term would be to represent man as earth-born, much the same as in Latin, where the word homo is supposed to be kindred with humus.  THE OPENING CHAPTERS OF GENESIS IN THE BIBLE Practically all the Old Testament information concerning Adam and the beginnings of the human race is contained in the opening chapters of Genesis. To what extent these chapters should be considered as strictly historical is a much disputed question, the discussion of which does not come within the scope of the present article. THE STORY OF THE CREATION IS TOLD TWICE Attention, however, must be called to the fact that the story of the Creation is told twice, viz. in the first ...

ST EVE, WIFE OF ADAM - 24 DECEMBER

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 24th of December 🌲 Christmas 🌲 WELCOME! SAINT EVE, WIFE OF ADAM Saint Eve  (Hebrew: CHWH, hawwah). Eve is the name of the first woman, the wife of Adam, the mother of Cain, Abel, and Seth. The name occurs only five times in the Bible. In Genesis 3:20, it is connected etymologically with the verb CHYH or CHWH, "to live": "And Adam called the name of his wife Eve [CHWH, hawwah]: because she was the mother of all the living".  THE MOTHER OF ALL THE LIVING The first account of the creation (Genesis 1, "P") sets forth the creation of mankind in general, and states simply that they were created male and female.  The second narrative (Genesis 2, "J") is more explicit and detailed. God is represented as forming an individual man from the slime of the earth, and breathing into his nostrils the breath of life.  "BONE OF HIS BONE, AND FLESH OF HIS FLESH" In like manner the creation of ...
