  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 3rd of June WELCOME! SAINT ISAAC, RELIGIOUS AND MARTYR Monastery yard in the snow Saint Isaac (Isaacus) was the son of rich and noble parents in Cordova ( Cordoba ) in Spain. Endowed with a childlike fear of God from an early age, he was given a respected civil service position as a young adult, particularly because of his knowledge of the Arabic language. Shortly after his appointment, Isaac felt the urgent call to serve God full-time as a religious, and so joined the nearby double monastery of Tabanos (Tabane). After three years of labour for his moral perfection, he went to Cordova in holy zeal for the glory of God, and was seized by the Saracen judge, because he rebuked the law of Mohammed with admirable frankness. After many tortures, Isaac was beheaded in 851 (according to Usuard in the 27th year of his age), his body burned and the ashes thrown into the river.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN APRIL Saints celebrated on the 11th of April SAINT ISAAC, MONK AND CONFESSOR Today, we also commemorate Saint Isaac. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Spoleto, Saint Isaac, monk and confessor, whose virtues are recorded by Pope Saint Gregory." PRAYER: Grant to your Church, we beseech you, O Lord, through the intercession of Saint Isaac, not to think high-mindedly, but to grow in humility pleasing to you; that, despising what is base, she may with unbounded love diligently do whatever is right.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 19th of October WELCOME! SAINTS JEAN DE BREBEUF AND ISAAC JOGUES AND THEIR COMPANIONS, MARTYRS  The 32-year-old French Jesuit Jean [John] de Brebeuf travelled to New France in North America in 1625. He worked with the Huron, an Iroquoian tribe famous for their ferocity, with whom the French settlers traded. Brebeuf was raised in Normandy and joined the Jesuits at the age of 24, becoming a teacher in Rouen and surviving tuberculosis. Although not the best student, he was a talented linguist. Along with Fr Charles Lalemant and Fr Enemond Masse, and the lay brothers Francois Charton and Gilbert Bure, Brebeuf arrived in North America. They first stayed with the Montagnais and then the Huron and the Bear Tribe. HE LEARNED THE HURON LANGUAGE AND CARED FOR THEIR SICK Recalled to France in 1629, he remained there for four years before leaving for good.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER Saints celebrated on the 30th of November WELCOME! SAINTS SAPOR AND ISAAC, BISHOPS, MAHANES, ABRAHAM, AND SIMEON, MARTYRS In the thirtieth year of Sapor II. [Shapur II.] the Magians accused the Christians to the king, with loud complaints, saying: "No longer are we able to worship the sun, nor the air, nor the water, nor the earth: for the Christians despise and insult them."
