WELCOME! SAINT GREGORY, BISHOP OF LANGRES Langres Cathedral Saint Gregory , Bishop of Langres, commemorated on January 4 and May 13, became immensely popular as a senator of Autun through his strict justice. His wife Armentaria bore him two sons, Saint Tetricus , later also Bishop of Langres, and Gregory, the grandfather of Saint Gregory of Tours . After serving as a senator for 40 years, he renounced this office to dedicate himself physically to God alone, whom he carried in his heart. When his wife died, he was unexpectedly ordained a priest, and soon afterward, by the joint election of the clergy and people, was elevated to Bishop of Langres. As such, he worked through word and example, as well as through the apostolic wisdom with which he was endowed, at the Synods of Epaone (in 517) and Auvergne (in 535).
