SAINT FEAST DAY 17 SEPTEMBER: ST HILDEGARDIS OF BINGEN

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER Saints celebrated on the 17th of September WELCOME! SAINT HILDEGARDE OF BINGEN, ABBESS St Hildegarde [Hildegard], Virgin; memorial: September 17 (12th century). Born A.D. 1098 in the Lower Palatinate (Germany), she took the veil in the Abbey of Mount St Disibode .  Marvellous for her gifts of prophecy, she wrote a Book of Revelations which received the approval of  Saint Bernard of Clairvaux   and of Pope Eugenius III . SHE REMOVED WITH SOME OF THE SISTERS TO BINGEN  When abbess of the monastery, as her community had grown over-numerous, she removed with some of the Sisters to Mount  St Rupert near Bingen, where she died A.D. 1179.  Her writings have come down to us, but with grave interpolations.  Information from The Book of Saints, 1921, by the Monks of Ramsgate PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Hildegarde may increase our devotion and promote our salvation.
