CONAN, ABBOT OF MARGAN Conan ( Conanus, Cunanus [Conon]), (January 15), was abbot of the Cistercian monastery of Margan in Wales. It is not known whether or not he was canonized.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 5th of March SAINT CONON OF BIDA, MARTYR Saint Conon is styled a martyr at Bida in Isauria . A native of that city, he lived in the days of the apostles. It is said of him that he had such power over the devils that he could do with them what he liked. He therefore not only compelled them to confess the true God, but also ordered them to till the field, and to take care of the fruit. Some of them he even shut up in bowls which he sealed securely so that they could not escape, and laid them under the foundation of a house which he was building.  After Conon's death, some citizens were planning to transform his house, and in ripping open the foundations the bowls were found. Because they were sealed, some builders reckoned that they contained gold; only when the seals were opened did flames erupt and the building collapsed.  Having been called before the governor Magnus because of his zealous confession of the Christ...

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY   Saints celebrated on the 19th of February SAINT CONON, ABBOT Saint Conon, priest and abbot of the monastery of Penthncia in Palestine on the Jordan, was according to some a Cilician (Cilix), according to others an Alexandrian. He died about the year 555. The son, seemingly, of an officer in the Thracesian troop, he was educated in Sicily and ordained priest at Rome.  His age, venerable appearance, and simple character caused the clergy and soldiery of Rome, who were in disagreement, to put aside their respective candidates and to elect him as pope.  He was consecrated (October 21, 686) after notice of his election had been sent to the Exarch of Ravenna, or after it had been confirmed by him. SAINT CONON, BISHOP OF THE ISLE OF MAN  If we can give credit to some lives of Saint Fiaker , and the old Breviary of Limoges, that saint was son of Eugenius, king of Scotland, and by his father committed in his childhood, with his two brothers, to the care of St Conon, from which saintly education he received that ardent love and perfect spirit of piety, by which he was distinguished during the whole course of his life.  A SAINT FROM HIS INFANCY Conon, by the purity and fervour in which he served God, was a saint from his infancy. ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 28th of March WELCOME! SAINT CONON OF NASO, ABBOT Born in 1139, son of Count Anselmo Navacita, governor of Naso, Italy, Saint Conon chose poverty for the Lord by becoming a monk at the Fragala Abbey in Frazzano. Ordained to the Priesthood, he was chosen abbot after a spell as a hermit in a cave at the Rock of Almo.  HOLINESS AND MIRACLES His reputation for holiness and miracles spread: for instance, whilst on  Pilgrimage in the Holy Land, he received a vision in which he saw a priest he knew being suffocated by a snake. Having returned from the Holy Land, he went directly to this priest and told him what he had seen. The priest at once admitted to St Conon that he was taking church funds and keeping them for himself. St Conon then persuaded his fellow priest to change his ways.
