ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 3rd of February WELCOME! SAINT BLAISE, BISHOP AND MARTYR Saint Blaise - Bishop of Sebaste in Armenia - was put to death under Lisinius in A.D. 316. His cult spread rapidly in the east and the west. Numerous cures are attributed to him and he is invoked particularly for all the diseases of the throat. THE BLESSING OF THE THROAT The blessing takes place annually on February 3, and two blessed candles are used touching the throat in the form of a cross. This is recorded of him because of a poor woman who came to St Blaise with her little son choking with a fish in his throat; he was almost at the point of death, but St Blaise cured him.
