Herself and her husband Count Lodovico Antonio Costa (the Lord of Benasco) tied the knot in 1485 and the pair travelled to the small Benasco province for the ensuring celebrations.  She endured her new husband's expensive tastes seeing it as her role to be faithful to him even if she did not live the excessive luxuries. In spring 1486 the couple visited Milan and Alessandria before setting off for Asti. The two also visited Turin where the duke received them.  Her confessor, Father Carletti, advised her to enroll in the Third Order of  Saint Francis   while learning to appreciate the poor and to detest the lavishness of the secular world. Due to economic difficulties, his father was forced to emigrate to the United States of America, and stayed in touch with his family from abroad. On the occasion of a popular mission in Bisenti, in 1926, the Servant of God met a Passionist Priest. Attracted by the figure of Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows , he expressed the desire to enter the Congregation of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ but, due to his rather fragile health, he was directed to the diocesan seminary. GUILLAUME BRIÇONNET, BISHOP OF MEAUX Guillaume [William Briconnet], born in Tours in 1472, was a son of Cardinal Briçonnet, and before entering the ecclesiastical state was known as the Count de Montbrun. In 1489 he was named Bishop of Lodeve. Distinguished by remarkable judgment, great learning, and a love of study, he received from Louis XII several preferments, and was named as chaplain to the Queen. In 1507 he succeeded  his father as Abbot of Saint-Germain-des-Pres.  The king entrusted him with delicate and difficult missions, and sent him, the same year that Guillaume became abbot, to Rome as extraordinary ambassador for the purpose of justifying the conduct of his prince against the accusations of the Emperor Maximilian. SAINT EXUPERANTIUS, BISHOP OF CINGOLI The name Exuperantius (Exsuperantius) is derived from the Latin exsuperans , meaning excellent . Saint Exuperantius, French: St-Exupérance, an African by birth, was the son of Eulasius and Perpetua. Whether the father adhered to paganism or to a heretic doctrine is not quite certain; but his mother Perpetua seems to have been a Christian. At the age of twelve Exuperantius received baptism, and after some time left his native country for Rome.  A very zealous proclaimer of the gospel, Exuperantius became bishop of Cingoli, and died there after 15 years of office, distinguished by the gift of miracles. According to his biography, he was ordained bishop of Cingoli by Pope Paschasius; but there never was a pope of that name, and perhaps it should be put "Paschalis," which would mean that Exuperantius flourished in the first half of the ninth century, because...

Along the way, Artemius was stricken with a grave fever in the French city of Clermont. The other ambassadors continued their journey, leaving Artemius bedridden in Clermont. The city’s bishop, Saint Nepotianus, came to him, and finding him close to death, administered to him the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. Upon receiving this sacrament, Artemius miraculously recovered. Resolving to consecrate to God the life that God had restored to him, the young man renounced his plan to marry as well as his possessions, and entered holy orders. (1693) Thomas Coniers (Conierus), descended from a respected English family, had to leave his fatherland for his faith and entered the Society of Jesus at Douai [France].  His superiors asked him to conduct missions in the towns and countryside of Douai, Dinant, Sedan and in the Ardennes. God alone knows how much good he has done by preaching, praying, and edifying example; people have given him the honorary title "Apostle of the Ardennes". He died at Bastogne at the age of 77 . Stephen V, Pope, date of birth unknown; died January 24, 817. Stephen, the son of Marinus, was of the same noble Roman family which gave two other popes to the Church.  During his youth he had been patronised by Hadrian I and Leo III, the latter of whom had ordained him deacon. His virtues were celebrated, and he was elected pope and consecrated immediately after Leo's death, about June 22, 816.  He at once caused the Romans to take an oath to the Emperor Louis the Pious as their suzerain, and he sent notice of his election to him. BLESSED WILLIAM IRELAND, PRIEST AND MARTYR  [Blessed] William Ireland was a Jesuit martyr, born in Lincolnshire, 1636; executed at Tyburn, January 24, 1679; eldest son of William Ireland of Crofton Hall, Yorkshire, by Barbara, a daughter of Ralph Eure, of Washingborough, Lincolnshire (who is to be distinguished from the last Lord Eure) by his first wife.  He was educated at the English College, St Omer; admitted to the  Society of Jesus  at Watten, 1655; professed, 1673; and was for several years confessor to the Poor Clares at Gravelines.  ON THE ENGLISH MISSION In 1677 he was sent on the English Mission and appointed procurator of the province. BERTRANNUS, ABBOT   Blessed Bertrannus (Ebertramnus), abbot of the monastery of St Quentin in Picardy, took the habit at Luxeuil with his friends Bertin and Momolenus and made, under the direction of St Eustasius, great progress in holiness.  GREAT PROGRESS IN HOLINESS When Audomar had become bishop of Terouane, Bertrannus was sent to him by Abbot Walbert in A.D. 637. He was supposed to act as an assistant in the work in the apostolic field.  MOMOLEN MADE HIM ABBOT OF ST QUENTIN However, when Momolen was appointed bishop of Noyon and Tournay in A.D. 659, he took Bl.
