The Roman Martyrology states: "At Edessa, in Syria, the holy martyrs Gurias and Samonas, under the emperor Diocletian and the governor Antoninus." PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saints Gurias and Samonas may increase our devotion and promote our salvation.
