  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 7th of December WELCOME! SAINT EUTROPIUS, ABBOT Saint Eutropius was a student of  Saint Martin of Saintes who, in turn, was a disciple of Saint Martin of Tours . Saint Martin of Saintes was educated at the monastery of Marmoutier, but later moved to Saintogne and built a monastery at Saintes. His most famous pupil was our saint who also became his successor. Saint Eutropius flourished in the 5th century. However, no further details have come down to us . (But. XVIII. 116., El.) SAINT EUTROPIUS, BISHOP OF ALMUNIA Today, on February 17, we also commemorate Saint Eutropius, a bishop of Almunia (Nestobriga) in Spain. He is said to have sent Paul Orosius to Africa to assist Saint Augustine.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 1st of June WELCOME! SAINT CRESCENTIAN AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS Saint Crescentian (Crescentianus, Crescentinus) was born in Rome of noble parents, and subsequently entered the military service. He later divided his fortune among the poor and devoted himself wholly to the service of the Lord. During the persecution of Diocletian he had to flee Rome and settled at Città di Castello (Tifernum), where he led a solitary life. Someone reported Crescentian to the governor for being a Christian, whereupon he was taken prisoner and, after great torment, beheaded by the sword in A.D. 287.  Later, when it was safe to do so, the inhabitants of Città di Castello built a church in his honour and placed his relics in it. From there they were taken to Urbino in 1068 - with the permission of the then bishop Fulco - and the saint himself was elected patron of the city.   WELCOME! SAINT EUTROPIUS, BISHOP  A page of one of Fortunatus Hueber's Saints' books, "Stammenbuch..." (1693) Saint Eutropius, bishop of Adrianople was a native of Gaul, and was already endowed with the episcopal dignity when he bore witness to Christ during the reign of emperor Licinius.  He later fought the Arians zealously for the Catholic faith, and they effected his banishment. He died in his native Gaul towards the end of the reign of Constantine the Great. Athanasius praises Eutropius highly in some of his writings. (Mg.) SAINT EUTROPIUS, BISHOP OF HADRIANOPOLIS Saint Eutropius, bishop of Hadrianopolis in Thrace and ancestor of Saint Lucius there was dispatched to Gaul. The mission entailed firstly, to preach the gospel to the heathen, and secondly, to defend the pure doctrine against the Arians. But the latter brought it about that he was sent into exile, where he died a faithful professor of the divinity of Jesus. (But. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Saintes, blessed Eutropius, bishop and martyr, who was consecrated bishop and sent to Gaul by St. Clement. After preaching for many years, he had his skull crushed for bearing testimony to Christ, and thus gained a victory by his death."
