  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 8th of June WELCOME! BLESSED MARY OF THE DIVINE HEART Bl. Mary of the Divine Heart   Blessed Mary of the  Divine Heart , born Maria Droste zu Vischering in Münster , on September 8, 1863, came from a wealthy, noble German family. Her parents were devout Catholics: Count Clemens Droste zu Vischering and of Countess Helen von Galen.  In 1883, at the chapel of the Castle of Darfeld, she is said to have had a vision of Jesus Christ who told her: " Thou shalt be the wife of my heart ". On August 5 of that same year, Maria told her parents of her desire to become a religious. She joined the Catholic Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the  Good Shepherd . In 1894 she was sent to Portugal, where she was initially assistant to the mother superior of the convent in Lisbon. SAINT GERMAN AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS - 8 JUNE

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE   Saints celebrated on the 8th of June WELCOME! SAINT GERMAN AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS  (THE STONE CUTTERS) Saints German (Germanus, Gesmanus), Paulinus, Justus and Sicius (Scicius) are said to have suffered in the town of Gerona (Gerunda) on the Ter (12 miles north-east of Barcelona in Spain) during the Diocletian persecution. They are known as the “stone cutters” (Lapicidae) .  Unfortunately the original biographies describing their circumstances and martyrdom have been lost long ago, and instead only forged acts, completely different from the original ones, have come down to us. Therefore even the nickname Lapicidae is not entirely reliable.  Their relics were first kept at a Church dedicated to the Mother of God outside of town; under Charlemagne and by his order, however, they were moved to the cathedral. Around the year 1200 their mortal remains were translated once more to a specially built chapel dedicated to these martyrs ...

EUTROPIUS, BISHOP OF VALENCIA - 8 JUNE

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 8th of June WELCOME! EUTROPIUS, BISHOP OF VALENCIA Eutropius was from the school of Saint Donatus and a founder of a monastery near Valencia in Spain. He became its abbot and later bishop of the city mentioned. He lived towards the end of the sixth century, and was famous for learning and sanctity of life. He wrote a letter de distinctione monachorum et ruina monasteriorum , which Holstenius published in the Codex regularum S. Benedicti. Bucelin * and some other martyrologies commemorate Eutropius on June 11, and list him among the saints, while the older catalogues just provide his name without any title . SAINT EUSTADIOLA, ABBESS - 8 JUNE

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 8th of June WELCOME! SAINT EUSTADIOLA, ABBESS Saint Eustadiola was the daughter of a noble councillor at Bourges. From her youth, she led a godly life and afterwards entered into the holy state of marriage, in which she bore a son, named Tetradius.  After her husband's death, she built and adorned the churches of her native town with her possessions, erected a nunnery and was elected abbess there. She abstained from meat for 70 years and gave sight to a blind man. According to Bucelin *, who commemorates her on May 10, she died around the year 696 at the advanced age of 90 and was buried in the Church of Saint Paul. Many miracles were performed at her tomb; through her intercession, many more blind people, the lame, and other afflicted persons obtained cures or relief . (1693) Saint Cristus (also called Euristes, Eristus, Orestus ) is commemorated on June 8. He attained the crown of martyrdom at Caesarea in Palestine. MAINARD, ABBOT - 8 JUNE

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE   Saints celebrated on the 8th of June   WELCOME! MAINARD, ABBOT Mainard (Mainardus, Menardus) entered Clairvaux Abbey under Saint Bernard, as his pupil. After a while, he was appointed abbot of the monastery of Saint Jome in France, which is dedicated to the martyrs Speusippus, Eleusippus and Meleusippus [ The Holy Triplets ], and of the Mora Monastery, both located in the bishopric of Langres. He was known for his great piety. The legend and the Menology of the Cistercians * mention Mainard, too. ERTHFRID, RELIGIOUS - 8 JUNE

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 8th of June ERTHFRID, RELIGIOUS Erthfrid (Erthfridus), a monk at a monastery in Magdeburg, is said to have once seen an angel with a golden censer burning incense above the brothers who were singing the praises of God in the choir.
