ABRANUS, HERMIT - 25 JULY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JULY Saints celebrated on the 25th of July WELCOME! ABRANUS, HERMIT  Abranus (Abramus) (July 25, December 3), a hermit of Champagne in France, came originally from Ireland; his brother was Saint Gibrian . He arrived at the time of Saint Remigius, bishop of Reims, having landed there alongside six brothers and six sisters, all of whom, according to Migne, are venerated as saints in the church. He then lived in a hermitage on the Marne, which  Bishop Remigius  had instructed, in strict penance and the service of God, until his holy passing.  In the life of Saint Gibrian, whose feast is celebrated on May 8, the  Bollandists * mention that they could not establish whether Abranus enjoyed veneration by the church, which is why they count him among the praetermissi .
