SAINT LAMBERT ROESENVELD AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS Lambert Roesenveld ( Lambertus Roesenveldus ), mayor (consul) of Haarlem in Holland, and Quirinus Talesius, also mayor, the priest Francis, son of Jacob Rembrandt, the senator Hadrian, the citizen Hugh, the Virgin and Beguine Ursula, and the widow Mary, all of Haarlem, were slain by Calvinists for their Catholic faith [in 1572]. SAINT LAMBERT, ARCHBISHOP OF LYON - 14 APRIL

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN APRIL Saints celebrated on the 14th of April WELCOME! SAINT LAMBERT, ARCHBISHOP OF LYON Lambert ( Lambertus, Landbertus, Landibertus ), first abbot of Fontenelle, then archbishop of Lyon, was born of noble family in the region of Therouanne in northern France. His father Erlebertus is called "Lord of Kern" ( Dominus Kernensis); no mention is made of his mother, nor of his early youth.  In an old biography by Aigradus, a contemporary writer,  of which only a fragment has been found, it says that Lambert performed secular military duties at the court of the young king Clotair III for some time and that he quitted the court in A.D. 663 in order to serve God fully. Various relatives (his uncles Robert and Rotberius¹, and Altbertus ) who also lived at the royal court tried everything in their might to dissuade Lambert from leaving. The Roman Martyrology states:  "Again in the same place [Zaragoza], the martyr Saint Lambert." PRAYER: Grant to your Church, we beseech you, O Lord, through the intercession of Saint Lambert, not to think high-mindedly, but to grow in humility pleasing to you; that, despising what is base, she may with unbounded love diligently do whatever is right. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

ST LAMBERT, BISHOP AND MARTYR - 17 SEPTEMBER

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER Saints celebrated on the 17th of September WELCOME! SAINT LAMBERT, BISHOP AND MARTYR  Saint Landebert, called in latter ages Lambert, was a native of Maastricht, and born of a noble and wealthy family. His father caused him to be instructed from his infancy in sacred learning, and afterwards recommended him to St Theodard to perfect his education.  THE MOST PERFECT PRACTICE OF CHRISTIAN VIRTUE This holy bishop had such an esteem for this illustrious and holy pupil, that he spared no attention in instructing and training him up to the most perfect practice of Christian virtue. St Theodard, in 669, on his way to King Childeric II, was assassinated upon the road.  St Lambert was chosen to succeed him.  King Childeric II was slain by a conspiracy of noblemen in the year 673, the eleventh of his reign; and Theodoric, his brother, leaving the monastery of St Denis, was acknowledged king in Neustria, and Dagobert II the son of King ...

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST Saints celebrated on the 22nd of August Prayer to the Angels and the Saints Heavenly Father, in praising Your Angels and Saints we praise Your glory, for by honouring them we honour You, their Creator. Their splendour shows us Your greatness, which infinitely surpasses that of all creation. In Your loving providence, You saw fit to send Your Angels to watch over us. Grant that we may always be under their protection and one day enjoy their company in heaven. Heavenly Father, You are glorified in Your Saints, for their glory is the crowning of Your gifts.
