BL. JOSE MARIA GRAND CICERA, PRIEST AND MARTYR - 4 JUNE

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 4th of June WELCOME! BLESSED JOSE MARIA GRAND CICERA, PRIEST AND MARTYR   Jose Maria was born on  April 27, 1945, Spain, and entered the Novitiate of the Missionary Fathers of the Sacred Heart, in Canet de Mar, Barcelona, in 1965. He made his religious profession on September 8, 1966 and was ordained a priest on June 9, 1972. Moving to Guatemala in 1975 to work as a missionary in the diocese of Quiche, he ministered in the parishes of Santa Cruz;  Zacualpa and San Gaspar Chajul. On June 4, 1980 Jose Maria was shot dead along with his lay sacristan Domingo del Barrio Batz, whilst returning to Chajul on horseback after visiting remote villages of the parish. He is one of the holy  Martyrs of Quiche . SAINT WALTER, ABBOT - 4 JUNE

  SAINT WALTER, ABBOT Saint Walter ( Gualterius , Galterus, Gualteras, Valterus, Walther) lived in the 13th century. He is particularly venerated in the bishopric of Fermo (Firmum Picenum) in the Papal States He was born in Rome of noble stock. His father is called Euritus, the mother Victoria, and it is added that they received their son from God through unceasing prayer. On his forehead, from his birth, he wore a wonderful sign in the form of a cross, which is said to have shone on certain occasions. Even now, this can be observed whenever his relics are exposed for the veneration of the faithful. Upon Walter growing up, his father wanted to marry him off.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 4th of June SAINT FRANCIS CARACCIOLO, FOUNDER He was co-founder with John Augustine Adorno of the Conregation of the Minor Clerks Regular; born in Villa Santa Maria in the Abrusso (Italy), 13 October 1563; died at Agnone, June 4, 1608.  He belonged to the Pisquizio branch of the Caracciolo and received in baptism the name of Ascanio. From his infancy he was remarkable for his gentleness and uprightness. Having been cured of leprosy at the age of twenty-two he vowed himself to an ecclesiastical life, and distributing his goods to the poor, went to Naples in 1585 to study theology.  In 1587 he was ordained priest and joined the contraternity of the Bianchi della Giustizia (The white robes of Justice), whose object was to assist condemned criminals to die holy deaths. SAINT SOPHIA OF THRACE, WIDOW - 4 JUNE

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 4th of June SAINT SOPHIA OF THRACE, WIDOW Saint Sophia was the wife of a senator in Constantinople. After his death she entered a monastery in her native Thrace and died there at the age of 54. WERNHER, ABBOT OF WIBLINGEN - 4 JUNE

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 4th of June WERNHER, ABBOT OF WIBLINGEN Wernher (Wernherus) was the first abbot of the Benedictine monastery Wiblingen (Kloster Wiblingen) near Ulm. Before being appointed, he had lived at the abbey of Saint Blaise (Sankt Blasien) in the Black Forest. At Wiblingen - as Lechner * writes in his martyrology - Wernher was full of grace before God and man. Following his death in A.D. 1126, miracles glorified his tomb.
