SAINTS LEOVIGILDUS AND CHRISTOPHER, MARTYRS - 20 AUGUST

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST Saints celebrated on the 20th of August SAINTS LEOVIGILDUS AND CHRISTOPHER, MARTYRS Today, we also commemorate Saints Leovigildus and Christopher. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Cordova [ Cordoba ], during the persecution of the Arabs, the holy martyrs Leovigildus and Christopher, monks, who were thrust into prison for the defence of the Christian faith, and soon after, by being beheaded and cast into the fire, obtained the palm of martyrdom." PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saints Leovigildus and Christopher may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 21st of May WELCOME! SAINT CHRISTOPHER MAGALLANES, PRIEST AND MARTYR, AND HIS COMPANIONS, MARTYRS  ➡️ The Martyrs of the Mexican Revolution Christopher Magallanes was the son of Rafael Magallanes Huizar and Clara Jara Sanchez. He was born on July 30, 1869, in the "La Sementera" ranch in Totatiche, Mexico.  PERSECUTION OF CHRISTIANS St Christopher and his  companion Martyrs lived under a very anti-Catholic government in Mexico, which tried everything to weaken the Catholic faith of its people. Churches, schools, and seminaries were closed; foreign clergy were expelled.  A CLANDESTINE SEMINARY Ordained a priest, St Christopher erected a clandestine seminary in Totatiche and he and his companions secretly preached and ministered to the faithful.
