  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 9th of June WELCOME! SAINT THECLA AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS OF AKSHA These Martyrs are commemorated on June 9, and also June 6. The holy virgins Thecla, Mariamna (Mary), Martha, Maria, and Anna ( Enneim ), "who preferred to die than to be unfaithful to their heavenly Bridegroom," suffered (Asseman-Zingerle, I. 100*) in the year 346 in Aksha (Asa, Kasciaz) in Assyria. A priest named Paul had recently succumbed to the pressure exerted by the government authorities, who had intimidated him, had seized his possessions and then proceeded to try to force him to reveal names of other Christians in order to have his possessions returned to him. The wretched man, who had therefore renounced his faith in favour of the prescribed official religion, named Thecla, Mariamna, Martha, Maria, and Anna, who had previously been under his spiritual care, as followers of Jesus Christ.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY   Saints celebrated on the 23rd of February Prayer to the Angels and the Saints Heavenly Father, in praising Your Angels and Saints we praise Your glory, for by honouring them we honour You, their Creator. Their splendour shows us Your greatness, which infinitely surpasses that of all creation. In Your loving providence, You saw fit to send Your Angels to watch over us. Grant that we may always be under their protection and one day enjoy their company in heaven. Heavenly Father, You are glorified in Your Saints, for their glory is the crowning of Your gifts. You provide an example for us by their lives on earth, You give us their friendship by our communion with them, You grant us strength and protection through their prayer for the Church, and You spur us on to victory over evil and the prize of eternal glory by this great company of witnesses.
