JUDITH, QUEEN OF POLAND  Judith (September 5), Queen of Poland,who bears the title "Saint" in the Acta Gynaeceorum and is recorded as having died in 1017. However, since her public veneration cannot be confirmed in the cited sources, the  Bollandists * list her among their Praetermissi (II. 487). ST HERAIS, VIRGIN AND MARTYR - 5 SEPTEMBER

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER Saints celebrated on the 5th of September WELCOME! SAINT HERAIS, VIRGIN AND MARTYR Saint Heraïs [Herais], Virgin and Martyr suffered near Alexandria [in Antinoe] under Emperor Maximian - that is, about a hundred years later than the aforementioned Saint Heraïs . She was killed after cruel torments, but cannot be determined whether she eventually met her end by the sword, as some hagiographers say, or by fire, as others claim. According to tradition, she was the daughter of a priest named Peter and was born at Tama in Egypt. The  Bollandists * assume that the name Rhais [Rais] - by which she is also listed in some sources - is a corruption of the original name Heraïs . ST OBDULIA, VIRGIN - 5 SEPTEMBER

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER Saints celebrated on the 5th of September WELCOME! SAINT OBDULIA, VIRGIN Saint Obdulia, commemorated on September 5 and December 13, is venerated in Toledo, where she is said to have lived as a virgin consecrated to God. However, some hagiographers consider her to be the same person as  Saint Odilia ( Othilia ). If this were not the case, nothing is known about her except her name and the place of veneration.  She also features in the  Roman Martyrology *,  although Baronius *, in his " Notes ," does not contradict the view that she is the same person as Saint Odilia, but merely remarks that in this case, a transfer of her relics to Toledo would be assumed. The  Bollandists * planned to mention details about her on December 13. (II. 488). STEPHANUS RABACH, RELIGIOUS - 5 SEPTEMBER

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER Saints celebrated on the 5th of September WELCOME! VENERABLE STEPHANUS RABACH, RELIGIOUS Venerable Stephanus Rabach (September 5), of the Augustinian Order, was the founder of the Congregation of Saint William (Wilhelm, Guillaume). He was born in Valives (Voves) in the diocese of Chartres in 1556.  After completing his theological studies, he became a doctor at the Sorbonne and then worked on the reformation of his Order, which he began in the Convent of Bourges in 1594 and introduced in several Augustinian monasteries, especially in Orleans. These combined reformed monasteries became known as "Congregation of Saint William” accepted. JOHN RANDAL BRADBURNE, MISSIONARY - 5 SEPTEMBER

VENERABLE JOHN RANDAL BRADBURNE, MISSIONARY John Randal Bradburne was born on June 14, 1921 in Skirwith, Cumberland, England. A son of Thomas William Bradburne and his wife Erica May he was baptised in the Church of England. John had two brothers and two sisters. Educated in Norfolk, he had a religious experience in Malaya while a soldier during the Second World War. When he returned to England after the war, he stayed with the Benedictine monks of Buckfast Abbey and became a Roman Catholic in 1947. He then was a Sacristan at Westminster Cathedral for some time, visited the Holy Land twice, and lived for a year in the organ loft of a tiny church in Italy. Posthumously nicknamed "Vagabond of God", he played plainchant on the harmonium and recorder, loved birds, and ate but once a day. A prolific poet, he wrote more than 170,000 lines of verse, for which achievement he holds a Guinness World...

SAINT ERCULANUS, MARTYR OF OSTIA  About the year 252, Saint Erculanus ( Herculanus ) died for his faith in Ostia. He was a companion of   Saint Censurinus . Saint Erculanus was patron of a church at Parma, whither his relics were taken. In A.D. 1104, however,  Pope Paschal II dedicated this church in honour of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin (II. 518).
