  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 8th of December WELCOME! SAINT GASARIA Saint Gasaria ( Casaria ) is venerated in St. Andre near Avignon. She is buried there, and the inscription on her tomb provides us with the year of her death: A.D. 523. Egbert was the son of the very powerful Count Theodoric II of Holland. In his early youth he was entrusted to the education of some pious Benedictine monks, whom he delighted with his piety and zeal. After making his profession as a youth, he received the ordination of the subdeaconate. And when, on the feast of Saint Adalbert , his special patron saint, he was prevented by a fever and ardently desired to be able to serve at the altar, he suddenly regained his health after invoking this saint.  When he was subsequently raised to the archiepiscopal see of Trier (Triers, Treves), he was so at home in his office that it seemed as if, in the solitude of his monastery, he had thought of nothing else but the duties of a bishop. VEIT ADAM VON GEPECKH, BISHOP OF FREISING - 8 DECEMBER

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 8th of December WELCOME! VEIT ADAM VON GEPECKH, BISHOP OF FREISING  Vitus [Veit] (December 8), surnamed Adam, was a pious bishop of Freising (South Germany), in the order of the 53rd. Due to his noble birth he had the title Prince of Geebeck [Gepeckh].  MOST DIFFICULT TIMES He mounted the episcopal chair on February 12, 1618 under the most difficult circumstances (on four separate occasions, during the Thirty-Years War, he had to flee from the invading Swedes).  WISDOM AND PERSEVERANCE He led the bishopric with wisdom and perseverance until December 8, 1651. He rests in the cathedral in Freising. He reached an old age and shone with sincere humility, which he showed more in his actions than in words. Miracles, e.g. the healing of a person with gout, a cancer patient, a possessed person etc. are ascribed to him . HYACINTH CISTERNES AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS - 8 DECEMBER

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 8th of December HYACINTH CISTERNES AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS  Hyacinthus entered the Dominican Order at Valencia. He planned to go to Japan for missionary work, taking the route via the West Indies. He took with him five members of the order.  THEY WERE SLAIN In December 1693, the ship they were sailing on landed in Guadeloupe on order to take water. The inhabitants, who at that point were still savage [as all of our distant ancestors generally were before they received the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ], attacked it and killed the missionaries. ST EUCHARIUS, BISHOP OF TRIER - 8 DECEMBER

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 8th of December WELCOME! SAINT EUCHARIUS, FIRST BISHOP OF TRIER Saint Eucharius, first Bishop of Trier (Treves), lived in the second half of the third century. According to an ancient legend, he was one of the seventy-two disciples of Christ, and was sent to Gaul by St Peter as bishop, together with the deacon Valerius and the subdeacon Maternus, to preach the Gospel. They came to the Rhine and to Elegia (Ehl) in Alsace, where Maternus died. His two companions hastened back to St Peter and begged him to restore the dead man to life. St Peter gave his pastoral staff to Eucharius, and, upon being touched with it, Maternus, who had been in his grave for forty days, returned to life. The Gentiles were then converted in large numbers. After founding many churches the three companions went to Trier where the work of evangelisation progressed so rapidly that Eucharius chose that city for his episcopal residence.  HE RAISED ...
