(1693) These saints suffered martyrdom at Alexandria in Egypt: Tryphon, two holy men named Cyrion, Eulogius, Menelaus, Porophoxius, Apricus, Chustus, Julianus, another Tryphon, Orestes , Cyril, Emerion and Julius.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 14th of February WELCOME! SAINTS CYRIL AND METHODIUS, PATRON SAINTS OF EUROPE Saint Cyril was born in Thessalonica and educated in Constantinople. He accompanied his brother Saint Methodius to Moravia to preach the faith. They both prepared Slavic (Eastern European) liturgical texts that would subsequently be known as the Cyrillic alphabet.  Both were summoned to Rome, where Cyril died on February 14, 869, while Methodius was consecrated Bishop and went to Pannonia where he tirelessly preached the Gospel. Though suffering much from detractors, he received assistance from the Roman pontiffs. Methodius died on April 6, 884, in Velehrad, Czech Republic. They are patrons of Europe.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 27th of June WELCOME ! SAINT CYRIL OF ALEXANDRIA, BISHOP AND DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH ⬅️ Doctors of the Church - Complete List Saint Cyril of Alexandria was born in 370; he entered a monastery, was ordained, and became Bishop of Alexandria in 412. He opposed the heresy of Nestorius, patriarch of Constantinople, at the Council of Ephesus in 431, which led to a split in the Church. He was a vigorous defender of the faith, and has left many writings. PRAYER: Father, the bishop Cyril courageously taught that Mary was the Mother of God. May we who cherish this belief receive salvation through the incarnation of Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SAINT CYRIL OF JERUSALEM, BISHOP AND DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH ⬅️ Doctors of the Church - Complete List Saint Cyril, born in 315, became Bishop of Jerusalem in 348 when the Arian controversy was at its height, and he was exiled several times. In his ‘Catecheses’ he set out the true teaching of Christianity and scripture and the tradition of the Church. He died in 386. PRAYER: Father, through Cyril of Jerusalem you led your Church to a deeper understanding of the mysteries of salvation. Let his prayers help us to know your Son better and to have eternal life in all its fullness.
