BL. MARY DE CERVELLIONE, VIRGIN - 19 SEPTEMBER

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER Saints celebrated on the 19th of September WELCOME! BLESSED MARY DE CERVELLIONE, VIRGIN Blessed Mary, commemorated on September 19 and September 25, the daughter of a Spanish nobleman named William de Cervello (Cervellione) and his wife Mary, was born in Barcelona in 1230, after the marriage had long been childless. From infancy, Mary showed an inclination toward piety, manifested in great love for God, prompt obedience to her parents, generosity toward the poor, and strict chastity. As a young woman coming of age, she could have made a respectable marriage twice, but she preferred perpetual virginity to the married state. Her father died in 1260. From then on, mother and daughter practiced even greater austerity for the sake of God. They lived near the religious house of the Order of Mercy ( de Mercede ) and devoted themselves to works of Christian charity. When her mother also died, on December 27, 1264, Blessed Mary took the habit of the afor...

ST MARY, VIRGIN OF ANTIOCH - 29 MAY

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 29th of May WELCOME! SAINT MARY, VIRGIN OF ANTIOCH Saint Mary, Virgin is commemorated on  May 29 .  Regarding this holy lady, the only thing we know with certainty is that she is venerated in the Eastern Church. When and where she lived, as well as the specific details of her life, remain unknown. While so-called "Acts" concerning her do exist, they are so unreliable and vague that the  Bollandists * are compelled to state that, although they offer useful moral instruction, they contain little or nothing of historical reliability. The essence of the legend is as follows: In the city of Antioch (likely the Syrian metropolis), there lived a woman of modest means but great Christian virtue and moral rectitude. Her husband had died, leaving Mary as her only daughter. She devoted herself entirely to the girl's upbringing, striving above all to plant divine love deep within her heart. The good seed fell on fertile soi...

ST MARY OF VERONA, VIRGIN - 1 AUGUST

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST Saints celebrated on the 1st of August WELCOME! SAINT MARY OF VERONA, VIRGIN 📷 FiniaM Saint Mary, Virgin (August 1) is venerated in Verona under the title "the Comforter." In the church bearing her name, where her relics repose, her image appears on the high altar alongside that of the Mother of God, the true "Comforter of the Afflicted." In her left hand, she holds a pair of scales: one pan contains images representing "duorum corporum" (two bodies), while the other holds a ring; in her right hand, she holds a lily. The latter signifies her virginal dignity, while the former alludes to the translation of the holy martyrs  Firmus and Rusticus (from Capra in Istria) - an event brought about, according to legend, through her intervention. For this purpose, she offered a large quantity of gold - consisting mostly of rings and jewellery - with which she intended to weigh the holy bodies against the metal. Yet, miraculou...

ST MARY OF JERUSALEM - 29 JUNE

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 29th of June WELCOME! SAINT MARY OF JERUSALEM Saint Mary, commemorated on June 29 , is the pious woman in Jerusalem mentioned in Acts, Chapter 12 , which states: " Peter  came to the house of Mary, the mother of John, whose surname was Mark, where many (disciples) were gathered and praying." Thus, during the time of Jewish persecution, her house served as a refuge for Christians. Judging by the account in Acts, it was likely situated in a secluded part of the city, not far from the city walls; for after leaving the main prison,  Saint Peter  proceeded along only one street before turning aside. Certainly, the Lord's Supper was not held in this house; it was located in the Lower City, not on Mount Zion, where tradition holds the event took place. Furthermore, the Gospel narrative regarding the preparations for the Passover argues strongly against this assumption ( Luke 22:8-32 ). Neither would the Apostles have ...

Arrived in Jerusalem she persisted in her shameless life, and on the  Feast of the  Exaltation of the Holy Cross  joined the crowds towards the church where the sacred relic was venerated, hoping to meet in the gathering some new victims whom she might allure into sin.  ...
