  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 8th of May WELCOME! SAINT GODON, BISHOP OF METZ Saint Godon (Godo) who, according to Migne * is also called Gon, was Bishop of Metz. Little has come down to us with absolute certainty. Saint Gosricus, his predecessor, administered this diocese around A.D. 638.  Clodulphus, Godon's successor, flourished around the year 650. Between these to dates Godon's time as bishop is generally assumed to have taken place, which lasted eight years altogether.  Migne* (dict. hagiogr.) , however, states that Godon's episcopate began in 647, and that he is - for unknown reasons - revered as the patron saint of glovemakers and perfumers. According to Saussaius *, Godon carried out the episcopal duties alongside Clodulphus, which we regard as highly implausible.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 28th of May SAINT GODO, ABBOT Saint Godo (Gao) was the founder and abbot of the monastery of St Pierre d'Oise near Auge (S. Petri in augia) in Champagne. A nephew of the holy abbot Vandregisil [ Vandrille ] of Fontenelle, he was born of a noble family near Verdun. St Godo lived in the second half of the 7th century. He journeyed to Rome under the pontificate of  St Vitalian (from 656 to 671) to request relics from the same for the newly built church.  Nothing else is known of his life, and the year of his death cannot be specified with certainty. According to Butler*, his prayers were asked against the plague (IX. 612).   From the fact that he was invoked against the plague in the bishopric of Troyes, a conclusion may be drawn as to his powerful intercession against contagious diseases even during his lifetime.
