ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 8th of May WELCOME! SAINT GODON, BISHOP OF METZ Saint Godon (Godo) who, according to Migne * is also called Gon, was Bishop of Metz. Little has come down to us with absolute certainty. Saint Gosricus, his predecessor, administered this diocese around A.D. 638. Clodulphus, Godon's successor, flourished around the year 650. Between these to dates Godon's time as bishop is generally assumed to have taken place, which lasted eight years altogether. Migne* (dict. hagiogr.) , however, states that Godon's episcopate began in 647, and that he is - for unknown reasons - revered as the patron saint of glovemakers and perfumers. According to Saussaius *, Godon carried out the episcopal duties alongside Clodulphus, which we regard as highly implausible. Saint Godon's mortal remains rest at St Symphorianus in Metz.
