VENERABLE FINGEN, ABBOT ⬅️ List: Irish Confessors and Martyrs The venerable Fingen ( Fingenius ), remembered on October 7, originally from Ireland, arrived in Germany during the reign of Emperor Lothair. Because of his virtues and insights, Bishop Theodoric of Metz encouraged Fingen to take his vows according to the Rule of St. Benedict. Due to his qualities, he was elected abbot of three monasteries: St Felix and St Symphorian in Metz, and St Victor in Verdun. On his authority, Wion , Menardus *, Bucelin *, and Ferrarius *, list Humbert with the title "Saint". The Bollandists *, in their work, mention him among the praetermissi (III. 788); Mabillon * does not list him at all. None of these writers provide us with the exact years of his birth and death.   WELCOME! SAINT HELAN, PRIEST Saint Helan (Helanus), commemorated on October 7, was Irish by birth. He flourished in the late 5th century. Together with his brother  Gibrian and his other brothers and sisters he moved to Gaul. There he lived as a hermit on the banks of the Marne and later became a priest. Since this church was of apostolic origin and Alexandria was the capital of Egypt, it took precedence over all other Egyptian churches at an early stage, and its bishop was named "archbishop" by way of distinction.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER   Saints celebrated on the 7th of October WELCOME! VENERABLE GEORG OF PFRONTEN-KREUZEGG  Andreas Erhart was born the son of a farmer. He became a baker and afterwards joined the Capuchins in Rome. At the time, he was 28 years old. In 1725 he was professed. His name in religion being Georg, everyone called him "Friar Jörg".  He worked mostly in various convent kitchens and workshops, and he became known for extraordinary holiness and charity towards children and the disadvantaged. It was claimed that he had the gift of bilocation. Sometimes he was seen bathed in heavenly light. Friar Jörg died in Frascati in 1762.
