SAINT ENECO, ABBOT - 1 JUNE

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 1st of June SAINT ENECO, ABBOT Today, we also commemorate Saint Eneco. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Burgos, in Spain, in the monastery of Onia, Saint Eneco , Benedictine abbot, illustrious by his sanctity and miracles." PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Eneco may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 1st of June SAINT ENECO, ABBOT Saint Eneco (Enecon), a Spaniard, lived for a long time in the Pyrenees as a hermit. When, after Abbot Garsia's death, the Benedictine monastery of St Salvator de Onna needed a new competent head who would be able to carry out the reformation that had begun there, attention was drawn to the pious hermit Eneco, whose holiness was known far and wide.  King Sanctus sent messengers to him, but they received a negative reply. Then the king himself went to him and urged him to take care of the orphaned monastic community. Now Eneco gave in, let himself be introduced to his office and administered it in an exemplary manner. He was a true father of the house, with a careful eye on the spiritual progress of his sons.  An object of good pleasure to God, angels, and men, he was bestowed with the gift of miracles.
