After his death, which took place in 1072, his remains were buried in a chapel in the church of St Saviour, which he had built especially for this purpose.  Information from Stadler's Complete Encyclopedia of Saints, 1858 PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Blessed Adalbero may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. ST HOMOBONUS - 13 NOVEMBER

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER Saints celebrated on the 13th of November   WELCOME! SAINT HOMOBONUS, MERCHANT, CONFESSOR Homobonus was son to a merchant of Cremona, in Lombardy, who gave him this name (which signifies Good Man) at his baptism: the name of his family was Tucinge.  Whilst he trained him up to his own mercantile business in shop-keeping, without any school education, he inspired in him, both by his example and instructions, the most perfect sentiments of probity, integrity, religion, and virtue. HE ABHORRED THE VERY SHADOW OF THE LEAST UNTRUTH The saint from his infancy abhorred the very shadow of the least untruth or injustice, and having always the fear of God before his eyes, would have chosen with joy rather to forego the greatest advantages, and to suffer the loss of his whole fortune, than to stain his soul with the least sin.  This rule is the more necessary to persons engaged in trade, as they are more easily betrayed unawares into occasion...

ST STANISLAUS KOSTKA - 13 NOVEMBER

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER Saints celebrated on the 13th of November WELCOME ! SAINT STANISLAUS KOSTKA, CONFESSOR Stanislaus was of a quiet nature. Very early in life he seems to have realised that nobility does not consist in showing off but in living one’s life according to God’s plan. After all, God had created him for something: he must find out just what that something was and, knowing it, he must have the strength to carry it out. To know what he should do and to have the courage to do it, required more than human strength so he sought guidance and help from God. He could never have been satisfied with drifting through life. He was ambitious because he knew that God makes every man for greatness. LIFE DOES NOT CONSIST IN SHOWING OFF Paul (his brother) undoubtedly regarded Stanislaus’ sickened reaction to off-colour stories as prudish and childish though in reality it showed rather his strength. Stanislaus was mature enough to realise how dangerous such stories and co...

SAINT FEAST DAY 13 NOVEMBER: ST FRANCES XAVIER CABRINI

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER Saints celebrated on the 13th of November   WELCOME! SAINT FRANCES XAVIER CABRINI, FOUNDRESS Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini was born into a farming family in Lombardy, Italy, in 1850. She was attracted to a missionary life from an early age and founded the Institute of the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Codogno in 1880. Her original missionary dream was to go to China but historical circumstances prevented this. Pope Leo XIII directed her to the United States, where millions of Italians were arriving in search of work and with the hope of a better life. THE UNIVERSAL PATRONESS OF IMMIGRANTS Over the next 30 years she established 67 foundations in Europe, the United States and Central and South America. This included schools, hospitals, orphanages and social centres. She established a school in Honor Oak, South London. She died in Chicago, USA, on December 22, 1917. She was canonised in 1946 and declared Universal Patroness of Immi...
